Your gift did not leave you. Life just got louder than the voice that made you an artist.
Hello Black Artist is a guided journal for Black artists and creatives who are determined to make the work while life is loud. Built in the Hello Black Man tradition of transparency and honest communication, its prompts take on the inner side of the craft: the block that will not move, the discipline that has to outlast inspiration, the fear of being truly seen, and the responsibility of protecting a gift that was never given to you by accident. Whatever your medium, the practice underneath it is the same: show up honest, on paper first.
Inside are 52 guided prompts, followed by open space for unguided journaling, so the structure is there when you need it and the blank page is there when you do not. This is not a sketchbook and it is not a technique manual. It is a few honest pages at a time, for the artist behind the art.
Written for Black artists, in a voice from the community
52 guided prompts on creative blocks, discipline, and protecting the gift, plus unguided journaling space
A meaningful gift for birthdays, graduations, gallery openings, and the holidays
Part of the Hello Black Man journal family. Awaken and Write.
